Personality of a Siberian Husky

The personality of a Siberian Husky is soft and affectionate. They are alert, adaptable, eager to please, and extremely loyal. Because they're a pack animal, they love to spend time with their humans and participate in family activities. They are bright, intuitive, and easy to train but also tend to forget and need reminding. Siberians love little humans (children) and use them as an outlet for their energy.

Siberians can be very stubborn and are easily bored. Without an outlet for their incredible energy, they tend to be very mischievous. The personality of a Siberian Husky and their friendly disposition prohibits them from being a watchdog. They're more apt to befriend a thief than bark at him. Speaking of which, huskies typically don't bark. Instead they talk to one another and their humans in a soft "woo woo woo" sound. They seem to have a language all their own and if more than one is present, howling sessions can be quite common.

Another defining factor of your husky's personality is they're blood line. Mixed breed behavior is often hard to predict.

Siberian huskies love the outdoors and especially the SNOW!! If it’s snowing outside, they'll drive you crazy until you let them out. They're happiest when they're working. If you don't want to own a team of them, 1 or 2 work well with cross-country skiing, sledding, bike riding, hiking, or any other outdoor activity.

Siberian huskies are often referred to as "Houdini's" and mine are no exception. When bored these resourceful animals will find ways to escape the confines of their domain. They will climb a fence, jump a fence, and yes even go under a fence. They are curious and eager to explore. They will stop at nothing to get out of your yard so be prepared. A good fence is a must. It must be at least 6 feet high. Consider extending chain-link fence below the surface of the ground.

Huskies love to dig... to them, it's FUN!

Uh oh. I said the "D" word. Yes, Siberian Huskies love to dig. At one point my back yard looked like an artillery range. It had more craters than the moon’s surface. It seemed every time I looked out the window, all I saw was hind legs and flying dirt. But I'm happy to report that with a little work and constructive reinforcement, it now rivals those in "Better Homes and Gardens".Siberians are eager to please, just show them how. As you can see, the personality of a Siberian Husky is a loving and playful one. It's up to you to decide if they're for you.
